Swaybar hitting control arm - adjustable links enough?
 

hey guys,

got around to fitting new coilovers and robispec control arms this weekend. Haven't taken the car off the stands yet as it seems I'll need a solution to this swaybar/control arm issue.

By the looks of it, I am not sure if the range on the adjustable links would be enough to clear the control arm. Most of the aftermarket links have about 20mm of adjustability to go longer (10mm) or shorter (10mm) than OEM, this is obviously a rough estimate. Will this be enough to fix this issue?

Yes. Some people have cut and shortened the stock endlinks. For a $200 savings I probably would have to if my sway bar didn't come with them.

Funny my "cheap" Isis coilovers came with them.

I am not so much interested in the endlinks, are those Ohlins on that car?

My "cheap" harbor freight angle grinder came with extra brushes.

Shortening my endlinks was the only way to stop the contact between both my swaybar (StranoBar v2) and also the endlink bolts with the lower control arm. It was hitting on both sides (so I'm sure the bar was properly centered, lol).

I am using the Whiteline adjustable links, and they only seem to start out at stock length (I don't feel comfortable with the amount of threads engaged if made any longer) and go shorter from there.

I'm still shocked that @Racecomp Engineering or @robispec or @Sam Strano or @Whiteline or anyone one else I'm forgetting hasn't made a sway bar with straight arms. It would solve this issue and make the bar able to adjust.

I know Whiteline has universal endlinks with differing length center sections. Just measure what length you need and give them a call.

It's pretty tight in there. I think it might end up interfering with the wheel if it's not bent the way it is.

Can't you adjust those control arms for more clearance?

Is this at full droop? Have you checked clearance with the car on the ground?

Thanks. I had a look at the whiteline spec page for the end links and it seems like it starts out at stock length of 25cm, and is able to be shortened down to 20cm. 5cm should more than cover me. These are exact specs as shown here:

They are indeed Ohlins. Cant comment on how they feel or handle as I've yet to take the car off the stands and go get an alignment.
