oil cooler for innovate supercharger
 

i have decided to get an oilcooler for my innovate\sprintex\bullet supercharger. has anyone installed one in their car? i have heard that the hks, greddy are the good options.

ideas? :)

Oil cooler for the oil in the supercharger or just an oil cooler for the engine in general? I installed the Perrin oil cooler and it has dropped the oil temp around 20 degrees when on the freeway. Install was fairly simple with the hardest part taking off the front bumper.

engine in general, down in australia we have an intercooled innovate option which means that we just need an oil cooler for things like track days etc.

I installed the Full Blown oil cooler two weeks ago. Great option for forced induction cars as it doesn't block intercoolers/heat exchangers:

If there is any chance of having @robispec ship you one of his coolers, I'd go that route. IMO, his solution is one of the best I've seen. I know you were just looking for an oil cooler, but his comes with a massively upgraded radiator as well. Well worth the money if you can pick one of these up!

Several others are running his cooling solution with the Innovate supercharger.

It works great on my innovate set up. Ran it at the track in 100+ deg weather and it worked beautifully.

Here are some logs of temps on the dyno. 6 WOT 4th gear runs with ~5 mins in between each. This shows the 1st and last pull to demonstrate there is no heat soak and temps are kept in-line.

I am not sure that 6 runs over the course of 30 minutes on a dyno with the hood open and fans blowing is the best example of how well a cooling solution works.

Never said it was the best test. It is the only data I have right now.

Now that I know how to data log I plan on doing some logging next time I am at the track. (As far as track temps go all I have right now is anecdotal evidence on Robi and my car which performed well. I do know he just ran a time attack at chuckwalla in 116 deg heat and he says fluid temps were good.)

I've yet to see my coolant temps rise above what they were stock, and I've been beating the hell out of my car since the turbo got installed. I think our stock radiator is sufficient, definitely for street cars. Haven't tracked it yet though.

It's the recovery time that is different, and overall efficiency and resistance to heat soak that makes the larger radiator important.

Stock vs aftermarket rad in open air low load there is no difference, on and off hard throttle in open air there is marginal difference.

The major difference is idle/dirty air and full load for extended time frames. That's when you see the temps on the aftermarket radiator recover 30-40% faster.

You have to look at idle temps with no air flow, high load temps, and cruising temps to see the whole picture.

Months have passed since this thread has been posted. Have more Innovative owners been installing oil coolers with their Stg 1 SC or left it stock?
Anyone care to share their temperatures with or without an oil cooler while at idle, cruising or under heavy load?

I went with the Perrin oil cooler. Easy install, perfect fit, very happy overall. The mishimoto will not fit with the intercooled innovate kit.

it's been a while since i paid close attention to the temps, but if i recall i was hitting ~240 degrees before the oil cooler, i don't think i have seen the oil temps exceed ~215 since installing the oil cooler.
