Drop in, silicone tube, exhaust, NO tune...problems?
Anyone have problems with the following mods and no tune, just stock ecu.
Drop in filter Silicone intake tube Exhaust Don't care about responses telling me to search or how I need a tune. just wanted a quick poll if anyone had problems with these mods on a stock ecu. I'm sure no one has, but curious nonetheless and it would take hours to search through hundreds if pages of different breather mod posts |
Friend has all three on his BRZ, no tune no problems.
Probably more WITH a tune, but I think you'll be totally fine bolting on and going for it :) |
Thanks. I am 100% sure its fine, in fact Ive read on here that many people have a lot of breather mods without a tune. I was attempting to lure that 1 guy that has a problem (if he exists) and then order my parts according to his advice of what to stay away from
|
You will be fine because the MAF is still in the OEM location. You might run a bit richer due to more airflow, but those 3 should be 100% fine without a tune. Might eek a bit more with a tune. :)

I have Perrin drop in Filter and intake tube with TRD exhaust. Car runs much better than stock and I have had no problems. I did unplug the battery for about 10-15 minutes to reset the computer when I added the parts. So far all is well.

Another one here with those three mods and no tune.
I have: Perrin inlet hose Perrin drop-in filter Perrin 2.5" catback exhaust Been running with those mods for 5k miles and no issues. |
Same here no issues. Wish I could try a tune to see the difference.
|
Are all of you guys above ^^ pretty satisfied with just the reset ECU and those mods?
|
From dynos and what everyone says, a tune makes a night and day difference. However, I've put 7000 miles on with intake/exhaust and no tune and am very satisfied with the results. Marginal power gains in the grand scheme of things, but there've been no issues/problems, and gas mileage has only gotten better.

There are a lot of good reasons to get a tune but the only engine mod that actually NEEDS a tune is forced induction. |
Exhaust... full exhaust or catback?
