Dealer Related screwup-New car in paint/body shop
Still have paper tags on my car. I have the Raven colored FR-S. It was in the showroom but had a scratch on the door. Took it back to the dealer to get it fixed. The guy wet sanded it with one finger leaving an indention and ripple effect, by the time he buffed and buffed and buffed the orange peel off, another dent was in it. Today I am carless b/c it's in the paint and body shop.(different one the dealer uses for bigger things) Suppose to have a dent person pop the dent out and lightly buff over that spot and (hope that the paint don't burn thru?) and then spray it with a orange peel again. Nothing more to make you sick thinking about it, b/c it was THEIR SCREW UP.... urgh... Not starting off good with this and the radio issue!... :(

i'd ask for a brand new car, at this point.

no such thing as "spraying it with an orange peel again". they will have to clear coat the entire panel, but there will be less orange peel in that panel compared to the rest of the car (if its properly applied) because its clear coat over a sanded, cured clear. that leaves and almost mirror finish. when clear is shot over basecoat there is more orange peel visible because of the texture of the basecoat that has been laid beforehand

Tell them thank you, but no thank you! There are plenty of cars on the lots now a days, you can just tell them you're going to take your business elsewhere.

I got it back and it looks good. but still sorta of a shotty deal to begin with.....

As long as your happy man

I think you settled on this deal.
That respray is not as good as the orginal, that panel is now twice as thick and likely will be a problem in the long run. I guess if you're happy so be it, but........ Cheers, |
