18x9.5 +38 tire upgrade question

currently have 245 40 18. can I go much wider such as 275? or would 265 be better? any experience and input would be great.

currently have whiteline camber bolts up front and cusco arms in the rear for adjustment of the camber. i'm not looking to stretch and pull and will be at a functional lowered height with my kw v3s

thanks!

you're already doing it wrong.

235/40, 245/35, 255/35 will work better.

now .. if you plan to race / track the car ..... that front wheel size is going to be drama. It's fine for the street but with a 235/40 on an 18x9.5 +38 front I rub brutally even with 2 degrees negative camber. it may work at stock height with stiffer suspension but not for a lowered car.

I'm gonna have to cut my fender liners out it seems

that's odd because i don't rub at all and already have taken it to willow. i have no fitment issues right now. i just want to go much wider since i noticed that i have lots of room. i'm also lowered on kw v3

Sorry for jack thread,
So 18x9.5 +38 all around with 255/35/18 will fit?

Tansey86 06-23-2013 02:14 AM

275 is the optimal size for a 9.5" wheel. In terms of fitment because of offset you may run into problems.

maybe a step down to 265 would work with some camber.

It all depends on how low you go. At stock height a 275 will be fine, the lower you go the more you'll get natural camber and poke because of the +38. If you lower it 1.5 inches and run 2* ull be fine

you're awesome help! i have the kw v3 right now and it's at the factory drop height it came preset with and i have no issues with my 18x9.5 (r) 18x8.5 (f) +38 245 40 18 all around no rubbing or anything. i think i'll go the route of 265 35 18 and get 9.5 up front.

http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=19954 - Jives car is 18x9.5 +40 square with 265/35/18's all around, hes got it dialed in to run awesome and the car looks mint. I'd discuss it further with him as he has more experience with the setup. Best of luck!
