Details: Interior dims, glass, light bulbs
If you haven't seen it yet, there are some tidbits on the Toyota Japanese site about the 86 that certainly pertains to the FR-S and BRZ.
Questions about the 86 Things like: *GT Limited & GT trims [i.e. USDM] = 215/45R17 87W, 17 × 7J aluminum 5x100, offset= +48, hub bore = 56mm, bolt hole = 14.5mm *Loudspeaker specs: Dash tweeters are 1", 2.5W rated, 35W max Door woofers are 6.3", 20W rated, 40W max Rear panel speakers are 2.5", 10W rated, 35W max [doesn't mention the assumed two midranges in the dash we get in the USDM car] *Lighting: Halogen low beams are H11, high beams H3B HID bulbs are D4S Taillights are 12 LED's per side *Glass Windshield passes 79% visible light, blocks 99% UV Side windows pass 73% visible, blocks 91% UV There's "green" and "privacy" rear glass, not sure which the USDM gets *Interior dimensions! Depth of trunk with rear seats up is 810mm at bottom, 670mm at top Height of trunk is 340mm min, 390mm max Max width of trunk is 1395mm, and 1075mm between wheel arches ...also dims with rear seats folded and front seats full-rearward 1435mm from bottom rear of trunk to back of front seats, and 1250mm from top of trunk to upper back of front seats Enjoy! |
Will the FR-S come with HID's from the factory? I know they are projected but a lot of cars out there have projected halogens. May be an option or something. I haven't done any searching on the forums about this but I'd assume nobody would know for sure yet. On a car with such a low base price I'd imagine they would stick with halogen to cut costs.

Cool, now people can get the tape measure out and figure out if they can fit all their stuff in the back. I am going to be measuring my dog crate when I get home. I don't know if it would slide in the trunk when broken down, but maybe go the roundabout way and put it in the passenger compartment with the seats down and then put the seats up once it's in the trunk. :thanks:

Edit: also, pretty sure Subaru isn't a luxury brand, either :iono: |

Toyota 86 = Halogen, optional HID [with LED eyebrow DRL] Subaru BRZ = HID [with C-shaped light-pipe DRL] |
Well if I have to get the Scion, due to pricing or whatever, I like the fact that it's a H11 housing for the headlight.
You can "upgrade" them with a H9 halogen bulb, for an increase in output, but with a shorter life. After recently driven in a new car (Ford Fiesta) with halogen headlights I was surprised in how well they performed, if the Scion performs as well, then the only reason I'd get the BRZ is for the "cooler" looking headlights. Hrmmm... |
It will be a matter of weeks before some companies make OEM Toy86 hid headlight packages with all the wires/switches. Market for them will be huge.
Scion is kinda dumb not to offer them as port or dealer upgrades - free profit. |
Wonder how hard it will be to put in an LED strip on the headlights yourself. Sucks that they wont be offering that along with HID, even as an option. I mean stock halogens sure, but some people wouldn't mind dropping a little more change for the upgrade.

I don't care what people say, I'm going to put a D4S 4300K HID bulb into the OEM Halogen projector housing. http://www.theretrofitsource.com/pro...oducts_id=3180 |

I am going to order the Toyota 86 HIDs and put them in or maybe the BRZ HIDs.
This car deserves HIDs. |
For Anyone interested in Doing HID's the RIGHT way, i'll share some insight. I'm a Guru for stuff like this so i'll elaborate.
I can say i'm very hopeful for this car If the North American spec DOES have the H11 projectors. I'm Going to go out on a small limb and say they are the Halogen Projectors from EITHER the Toyota Camry OR Subaru IMPREZA. I can't verify which one until i see the bowl design. (The "Lazy" hid install) Either one is a VERY Decent Candidate for the "lazy" plug and play hid installs if you bend down the "squirrel finder". I don't condone plug and play kits though! so please don't flame me! But by plug and play standards they're a 9 out of 10 performance, you could do ALOT worse. Anyone concerned about blinding oncoming traffic, bending the "squirrel finder" gets rid of like 95% of that glare. which was already minimal. Here's a pic of camry HALOGEN projectors w/ installed H11 HID (4300K) with properly modified Glare shield and New Lenses. http://i1233.photobucket.com/albums/...r/214aa114.jpg (The PROPER retrofit way, AKA swapping projectors) -if they're IMPREZA projectors- It's tougher. "TheRetroFitSouce" make a decent D2S setup that MAY work http://www.theretrofitsource.com/pro...roducts_id=254 Or else you can find the 2006-2012 STI HID projectors and It's literally a Direct Bolt on. Possibly even the BRZ HID projectors could be the same model. -if they're the Camry Projectors- This is what i'm hoping for! If they are, A lexus RX350 Projector swap could be a very simple fix to get amazing lighting. The RX350s are some of the best projectors available. The only variables are actual space INSIDE the headlight. TRS ALSO make a kit for the Camry, so it SHOULD apply here too. I believe the projectors offered on the Camry Kit are alot better than the projectors they offer on the Impreza Fitment. If anyone has any questions feel free to ask! My first mod to the FR-S is likely a retrofit..lol |
Those trunk specs:
The smallest dimensions indicate the trunk is 8.7cubic feet. (With the way a trunk is shaped, theres a little more room to be had than this, how much more is the question) The largest dimensions indicate the trunk is 15.6cubic feet (with the way a trunk is shaped, no chance of it being this big) Im guessing trunk size is somewhere around 10 cubic feet. |
