Injen Intake, install before or after engine break-in?
 

Got my intake.... getting the car next week. I was wondering if it makes a difference if I install the intake right away, or if it's better to wait until after the engine has been broken-in. Can anybody chime in on this?

Why not try out the car with the stock for a while and then change it? haha :) i love mine it sounded awsome. But not sure about if you should wait till break in first haha

I did a search, but way too many posts to go through.... I've test driven the car in stock already... need more power, so i'm gonna slap it on as soon as i get it back to my garage. Thanks for the answer guys!

You'll find at break in RPM that the Injen will probably make the car perform worse.....

To be honest, with all the engine issues these cars are having, I wouldn't do any modifications of the engine until after the warrentte is over, not just the break in period. Last thing you want is the dealer to see the intake and use it as an excuse to not cover an engine problem. (if this engine had been out for years with no problems, then it would be less of an issue. But this is not the case here..one issue after another , and now early DI failures)

The biggest reason I would suggest waiting is because an intake won't increase low end power at all, and might actually lose some power down low, and you don't want to be redlining it during the break in period.

Out of curiosity, how high did you rev it on the test drive? All the power is above 4500rpm, so if you were below that you're missing out anyway. As an FYI, an intake alone is not going to make enough more hp to feel it on the road so you might be better off just saving your money until you're prepared to spend more all at once (intake, header back exhaust and tune will be noticeable)

I would wait until after break in for two reasons:

1) Many members have experienced bogging/idling issues with the Injen intake.

2) There are still several little "hiccups" being worked out with this motor and factory tune, and you should break the car in and be a little hard on it first to see how the car is behaving before altering it further.
