Best way to remove OEM struts/springs

hi, im planning to install coil overs and was starting on the rears. i have the car jacked up on one side of the rear im working on. im having some trouble pulling the strut assembly out, is there a trick to this? such as taking off other bolts? i looked at the coilover DIY and it says you may need to push down on the hub, which ive tried but theres barely any play at all.

also as a side note, just to confirm, i wouldnt have to adjust the preload from for the coilovers from factory right? i just want it default preload. And the endlinks, are these necessary?

Take out the bolt holding the lower control arm to the hub, once you separate them it will allow the control arm to move further down so you can more easily remove the shock.

What kind of coilovers are they? What endlinks? if they came with front endlinks I would use them as with some of the coilovers the strut bodies are much shorter and the stock endlinks will end up being too long.

It's also usually easier to jack the entire rear end up or the entire front end up when you do the install. That way, you don't have pressure on the sway bar from the other side. So, jack up one end, put it on jack stands, remove stock, install new.

This.

It's hard enough to get the rears out with both rear wheels off the ground and the rear sway still attached, let alone doing one side at a time!
