reverse camera wiring

considering getting a cheapo revrse camera on ebay. I got a aftermarket pioneer HU which has a "reverse" wire. where should i wire that to? I believe its a signal wire that tells the HU to switch to Video In when in reverse gear.

thnx

Hey I'm not really good with cars but you could always go on crutchfield.com and be like "I'm buying your aftermarket camera could you tell me where it goes in my headunit." And they will probably will help you faster!

Reverse wire is wired to the reverse wire of the car. It senses when you are in reverse to switch to the rear view cam.

You should be fine with most of the ebay reverse cams, most are pretty good quality.

Tap into the pink reverse light wire running down driver side wire bundle. It is a tiny wire so be careful. You can use this as power for your camera or tie it directly to the back of your Pioneer HU. If you tie it directly, you will need to figure out another way to get your camera power.

thnx mit. is the pink wire a signal wire or is it actual 12v +ve wire for reverse lights?

is there a connection for a reverse camera on the stock BRZ headunit?

Tap this pink wire which provides 12V signal ONLY when in reverse. http://simplicity.elitecaraudio.org/bfrs49.JPG

get the reverse camera kit from beat-sonic, check on the groupbuy.
its pretty much plug and play, splicing one wire.

I would suggest that you pick up the orange-white wire coming out of the front end - closest to the engine - from connector HD1. That's the other side of the connector in the photograph. The wire is orange with a white stripe and silver bands.

It's a little larger in gauge, you have more room to tap into it, and it's a bit more stealthy. TEST FIRST!

I installed a JVC audio/GPS system, the backup camera is working like a champ now.

Refer to the Subaru BRZ (same as the FR-S) wiring diagram, P. 162. http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showt...wiring+diagram

Here's what I did:

Orange Wire

What does the orange wire feed? Is it reverse related or an accessory wire?

@ChiefG thanks for your diagram really make my install Apex-i Smart Accel Controller much ez and faster.

No need to tap into these wires! Stock BRZ headunit connectors already have reverse wire. It is second pin on largest 28pin connector (first pin is unused - empty). As I recall that wire had orange stripe, but I am afraid to be mistaken. It does give 12V out when in reverse

Hi, I recently purchased a Scion Frs, and I am going to install a backup camera soon. Does any have suggestions? What brand should I go with? Thanks in advance.
