The way we are interpreting what you said:

When I shift from 3-4, or 4-3, sometimes it "rattles like a rattlesnake". This is called grinding - the high pitched buzz that you get is the gear teeth skipping off one another. It's caused by mistiming your clutch release and having the clutch engage the flywheel before you are actually in gear with the shifter. As a result you usually have to move back to neutral, pull the clutch, press it again, and then shift slower. Is that accurate?

IF so.... Push the clutch, shift, then release. Problem solved, and that's what everyone's telling you!

If not, then you have a reason to chat up the scion rep.

Granny shifting not double clutching like you should.

I have another idea of what's going on, your shift is not all the way up to 3rd gear.

+1

this was my first thought (After figuring out what OP was trying to say). Otherwise, it looks like a screwed up tranny.
