Ringland Failure?

I wonder if the FR-S/BRZ will suffer from the ringland failures on the GR STi?

Completely different engines plus no boost and no access port for people to self tune.....

the 07 STi, also the only STi to have the V25 heads, were the only ones that I've known of to fail with a factory tune...so aside from that and what Dave said, /thread

Curious mode.

What's a "ringland?"

Given the fact that it's a scubby we are dealing with here. I think it's safe to say any attemp at boost on this motor will show that it does have ringland issues, and I'm sure it'll come with hypereutectic pistons aswell.

Very likely. Hell, the EJ207 hasn't come with forged pistons since...V7 or V8.

Why in the world would you speculate about something which is pretty far unrelated?

This has got to be some kind of ninja-trolling. :bonk:

Yeah I thought this was only on STI's and mostly from people who are pushing there engines very hard.

In stock form with no turbo I don't think there will be anywhere near the stress on the BRZ engines.

Homemade WRX 01-30-2012 11:46 AM

^^^well any EJ25 turbo engine can/has done it. They are all pretty much the same...pretty much. Don't feel the need to get off into nitty gritty differences for a subject that is far unrelated to this car.

Pretty much. I wonder if the new Pathfinder will have launch control transmission failures like the GTR.
