BRZedit tuned + Bolt-on parts

So I was finally able to get a tune done on my car after getting most of my bolt-on parts other than the header (undecided due to FI option).

I went with BRZedit with PRE, which is a custom tune and took a long time to do but worth the wait.

Here are the Dyno charts pre tune, post tune and a comparison chart.

Bolt-on parts include:
Perrin CAI + Silicone inlet hose
Perrin LWCP
Invidia catless front pipe
Invidia N1 catback exhaust

pre-tune.

BRZedit tuned (the 3,5k dip was due to the AT converter locking up, and tuner didn't quite get the pedal timing right)

Comparison chart: Blue line is before tune, red line is after tune.

Biggest gain was the 15 torque I gained in the 4k RPM region, and 12HP top end.

My buttdyno feels that about 4.5k rpm, the car pulls harder and the power seem to be more smoothed out. By smooth, its hard to explain, but it feels as if "patches" of power loss and torque dips are much more smoothed out.

After WOT 1st gear to 2nd gear, the drop to about 5k RPM in 2nd gear pulls pretty damn good now.

I need to mess around with it more since I only drove it home from PRE, and I should be able to give a better feed back after the next AutoX event.

Over all I am pleased with the tune, and yes I know the power loss compared to MT does indeed suck. The torque converter will rob about 5 ~ 8% HP compared to MT.

This is still a conservative tune, so it is set to have my AFR to taper a bit so its not running too lean over 6k.

Get some headers on that bad boy and that dip should go away!

Interesting numbers. I dynoed at 171 there last week. Probably the biggest difference between our cars as far as the dyno numbers are concerned is I have the Nameless overpipe with high flow cat. I wonder why I dynoed so high without a tune compared to you.

Edit: Nevermind I remembered you have an automatic. That's probably why.

Auto make less power. With a tune you would prob be where i'm sitting at. 185WHP

Dang auto robs power

kioton32 04-23-2013 02:39 AM

Yes the auto robs power but it can handle more HP and torque then the manual

I'm curious what I would dyno at... But I want headers first.

I really wish someone from PRE remembered what a stock manual got on the dyno they have. One of you guys needs to do it. Nick and I will pay for it. It's only $25, so I'll pay part and Nick will too! Come on guys! Man up! I'm sure @BRZPDX would like to see a stock automatic on the dyno as well to see what his parts did.

I'll be down in a couple weeks and mine is still stock

JonnyRocket 04-23-2013 03:33 AM

I could drop by most any day for a stock baseline. No performance mods currently, and I'm 15 min from PRE.

stockysnail 04-23-2013 01:32 PM

Call them and make an appointment 503-619-0055. If you need Nick or I to help pay the $25 then let us know. Also make sure you post it up here when you're finished and if your stock car was manual or auto transmission.

It should take 30mins or so.

I'll give em a ring on lunch.

I dyno'd at 189whp on a Visconti pump tune (EcuTek) with pump gas on the dyno at PRE. I only had pulleys and a muffler delete axleback at that time (I have other mods, but NOT power adders). I've since added a nameless catted over/front-pipe. No dyno update on that since I have dropped EcuTek and going to BRZedit with tuning at PRE soon! Will post updates after that happens..

I may take you up on that offer, lol. We bought a house this week and I may get in trouble with the wife if she thinks I'm spending money on the car before we get our house stuff.

Called PRE, scheduled for sunday before the BBQ.
