Invidia N1 in high rpm!!

Sorry guys if somebody already post something similar.
i just had my exhaust installed today and I have a few questions to ask and
see if other people are getting the same thing.

So I noticed abit of drone in the car. Is that normal??
And also in high rpm (5k-7k), the deep growl is gone. It kinda sound like a
stock after you hit that point until you get back to 4k below, thats where the nice sound comes back.

I wonder if the two points I mentioned is normal.
Thanks,

Are you running a catted mid-pipe? and does the N1 come with and without resonator option?

Mike86 04-17-2013 12:32 AM

Ya def normal i have an invidia n1 and its only loud and rumbly 4k and under and drone is normal too!! Once you break it in drone goes down substantially i can barley hear it but when it was new there was quite a bit of drone!!

I think its running with a catted mid-pipe. I just bought that piece. No other things purchased. And there is something I could screw onto the tip of the exhaust. Is that the resonator?

So pretty much we can only enjoy it in low rpm then? haha
And you said the drone is going to be gone after awhile?
Are you satisfied with it after?

That thing built into the exhaust is the resonator. The 2 additional pieces that insert into the exhaust tips are silencers.

silencers looks really stupid....
I rather sound good

My Hayward & Scott exhaust seems to go quiet in the car at higher engine speeds, however from taking a video from the outside it most definitely does not go quiet! Might just be a characteristic of the car?

Try plugging your sound tube and see if the exhaust seems louder. It might be overwhelming your exhaust.

Mike86 04-17-2013 08:38 AM

Yeah very satisfied!!!

can you adjust exhaust tip? i've seen exhaust with adjustable tip can make drone difference.

What do you mean by adjusting the tip?

I have the N1. It is definitely more rumbly and louder under 4k. Once I break past 5, you're right. The N1 disappears almost entirely. I think I enjoy that a bit more. I can hear the exhaust when I cruise at low speeds. Not have to shred it to 5k to actually start hearing the noise like some other ones on the market.

I find hearing the noise at low speeds an advantage instead of a disadvantage. My car stays below 5k day to day driving when I'm not spirited.

But it does quiet down quite a bit after break in.

I just looked at design of invidia exhaust and you can't adjust the tip. It's a one piece design.

What I'm saying is you know how if you just buy the universal muffler and tip separately, the tip has a screw where they meet so you can attach/tighten/adjust it.
Well.. when I had audi, a lot of people adjusted the aftermarket exhaust's tip and it changed the tone/drone of the exhaust. They made it adjustable, and don't know why.
