Low Race Ramps for Oil Change

Do you guys think these will have enough clearance to undo the drain bolt to change my oil. I remember seeing a DIY from rallispec and they changed the oil with similar ramps. What do you guys think?

If I'm reading it right, these ramps are 2.75" high. The car has about 5" of ground clearance, so you should have almost 8" with these ramps, at least at the front of the car. I think that I could get to the oil drain plug with that much room, but be sure that your drain pan has at least a 6 quart capacity- the one I had been using for years overflowed when I changed mine for the first time- only held about 5 quarts.:bonk:

Are there any bigger ramps people would recommend using?

I don't have race ramps, but I've been using Rhinos and I just have to put a 2x4 at the end of each one to make sure I don't scrape on it. Are you trying to stay with low profile ramps to avoid scraping?

Exactly, but I think I might being going the topside oil change route using the Mityvac MV7201.

I just don't like the vacuum removal method for oil changes. There is always the chance that you will not be able to remove any debris/deposits at the bottom of the pan. At least with the drain bolt removed, there is a better probability of any debris/deposits being flushed out at the same time.

Think of it this way, would you flush your toilet by sucking the water out of the bowl?

You'd be better off with something like this: http://www.ebay.com/itm/251254605772

Those ramps look like replicas of the Tomioka Racing ones I've been using for years...

These are stacked 2x10's, so they are roughly 3" tall, and give me plenty of access to the drain plug. (cheap too)

I use rhino ramp that I bought at my local parts store. $40 or something like that and they work fine. Car just barely clears when stock.

I'd recommend this:

Nevermind then, I already have 2 jacks and 6 stands and just wanted to pick up a set of ramps to make oil changes easier haha.

That's powerful imagery.
