Got new whiteout MT FRS and need some help
Got my new FRS 2days ago and it is beautiful!!! But, have some issues to drive when start in 1st gear and change to second gear. Is anyone can tell me when to change gear from 1st to 2? I used to drove MT corolla.... :iono:
Aslo hear some clinking sound when change gears and release the clutch , is it normal? I also feel the clutch pedal is super high for me .... |

I can not drive smooth from 1st gear to 2nd . When should I change the gear? |
possibly around 2-2.500rpms... Thats if your just cruising along.
|
I would say 2.5-3k rpm instead of what usptwins said. Just switch the gears slowly. When the car is warmed up(or driven for ~5-10 minutes), it should be much more easier to switch gears.

It was hit on above but yes shifting gets better once the car gets warmed up. There are a lot of threads discussing this and it is completely normal.
I did find the shifting got better after a few thousand miles but the best thing I did was change out the transmission fluid. I personally went with Amsoil but other members here have been having great luck with different premium brands as well. |

Yes, it was very easy and there is a good DIY write up in the DIY section. There is a drain plug and a fill plug, the only really special tool you need is a pump to get the new oil in as space is limited around the fill plug. If you do go this route you might as well do the diff at the same time, equally as easy. |

I'm at 1,500 miles and I am just starting to get used to this clutch...it's weird. |

Yes. The white ones because racecar.
Actual, take it slow for break in. You'll get used to the actuation eventually. First gear is quite low. It's going to sound like you're trying to race the next lane every time. Take the time to make the shift to second leisurely. I'm getting used to matching revs to the speed I'm moving on the 1 to 2 shift and easing the clutch. It's been a month and a half though. Only getting used to it now, as I've been driving all day every day for almost a week. On my motorcycles, I've found that it's easier to make a clean shift 1 to 2 in the upper revs. The FR-S seems to work similarly. It's not really practical in light to light driving at 25 max. |
