Simple Shut Window Feature Not Working on Driver's Side
Do you know how there is this window feature (http://www.scion.com/cars/FR-S/featu...window_feature) that lowers the window just a bit to allow the air to escape as you close the door so it's easier for you to close? Well, mine isn't working. It makes me mad because I'm a girl and I close the door very gently and it never closes because the air is trapped.
The passenger side does work, but not the driver's. I already looked it up in here and in the manual but the only quick fix I found was to reset the automatic up/down feature (http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=19731). I reset it but since it's not the same issue it didn't fix it. I called the dealership and since it never worked since the day I bought it (2 weeks ago) they said it might have been that no one ever programmed it. Has anyone had the same issue? I'm bringing it to the dealership Friday and I'm hoping I can get it fixed on my own before then because whatever they do I don't want them to open my door panel :( |
My bad just read the rest of your post. I do remember others having the same issue and the reset fixing it for them tho.
if not I'm sure the ft86 collective here will think of something. btw I'm a guy and I shut my door very light too but its cause I don't want to harm my precious have you tried the window reset yet? Put car to on, engine off. Push and hold button down until window rolls down and you hear a click. Then hold window button up until it rolls up and you hear a click http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showt...t=window+reset |
BTW it has nothing to do with the air pressures (50 plus years of cars with wind up windows having zero problems) it has to do with the frameless windows fitting into the seals the car was designed with, otherwise the windows will push and pull the seals decreasing their life.
If the window reset mentioned above doesn't work then you'll have to talk to the dealer and have it covered under warranty. |
Strat61 that makes sense. I thought it was because of the air trapped. Thanks for the info!
Mr. Jay I did try that and it didn't work :( |
Noticed this today at the dealership, when i opened the driver side door, the window came down a bit, when i closed the door it went back up, all on its own.
Assuming your window still moves up and down manually with the power button? |
Yes it does, absolutely nothing wrong with the window besides when I open the door.
|
Put car to on, engine off. Push and hold button down until window rolls down and you hear a click. Then hold window button up until it rolls up and you hear a click.
|
Did that more than ten times at different times of the day and still didn't fix the issue :(
|
That sucks, sounds like a dealer appointment is in order if you really like that feature. Crossing my fingers for you if you go that route that they dont more harm than good like take off the panel and break clips or something
|
Yeah me too, she's my baby!!! Thanks for replying and trying to help! I appreciate it :-)
|
Youre welcome :) One last thing, are you trying the reset with the door open or closed? I think it has to be closed to work.
|
The only people that post problems with this feature were those who had snow and ice on the windows this past winter. But seeing you're from Florida rules that out!
|
I did both, door closed and door open. And yeah I noticed some relationship between window not working and icy places.
Getting out from the dealership now. They had to take the door apart, it seems like there was a disconnected wire inside. At least it's now fixed :-) |
