best drop in air filter?
what are you guys using?
|
What do you consider "best"? I have the WORKS drop-in filter.
|
I have the Perrin one. Realistically, at least as far as power gains, the differences between any two are pretty much negligible. Grab one you can get a good deal on.

FWIW, I don't think that any one filter is any better than the rest. |
I ordered the Cosworth drop-in because I wanted a dry type filter. It was a close choice and I almost ordered the Apexi one. I don't think I could have gone wrong with either one. Haven't installed it yet because it is still COLD in Minnesota and in my current situation I need to do most of my car work outside.

I own both the Perrin and TRD
Perrin is more performance based, great for folks who track and stay on top of maintenance. I like the dual foam. the TRD is in my wifes car, daily driven, warranty safe etc. its TRD, easy to drop in and forget about for a bunch of miles-longer intervals for here car between check ups power wise both the same |

I have the afe dry filter, no complaints!
|
Apex'i. Sounds nicer and probably has the same effect as every other drop in. Don't think the differences between the drop in's are worth everyone discussing. In the end, the differences in power between the makers are minimal. They are all simply better than stock. Just pick your preferred brand and when it's time to change it out, just try another one.

Try to consider hks. Mid range to top end feels strong :)
Happy shopping! Enjoy |
I have the aFE oiled filter. The car felt a little more peppy with it than their dry filter. Probably just in my head though. Downside is it has to be cleaned/oiled every so often.
|
Zeta stage 2 hands down. I tried the Perrin before that and that was fine. They will all be similar in gains.
|
k&n seems to have the most HP increase according to ft-86 speed factory's dyno. its what i use and cant complain!
|
I love my K&N, it's a bit louder than stock also. I sincerely didn't notice any speed improvement but if some dyno says it.
