Will our factory radio fit a 2003 Toyota Matrix?

Got a friend who has a busted radio and I'm replacing mine soon to a touch screen nav unit. Will the factory radio fit? Does it need any fancy connections? It has a double din spot, but it looks like our radios are a little wider.

Our radios are standard double DIN units. If whatever opening you have is rated for a standard double din, it should pop right in

No, they're not standard double din size.

Standard double din in a BRZ:

"standard" BRZ radio:

Notice the difference? There's a bracket surrounding the standard double din radio.

Same with the FR-S radio:

Dang. So instead of $50, I'll have a big heavy paperweight when I upgrade. :/

i own a 04 matrix and a fr-s, i will confirm that its non-exchangeable.
its been long since ive had an oem matrix radio around, but i believe they were sourced by GM, im sure it would require some wiring regardless.

There may be other Scion and Toyota models that it will work in.

Really? I really thought these were rebadged off-the-shelf units. Sorry for the bad info.

toyota has standard radios, its not a standard double din, but it has extra amount on the sides, but most all yota radios measure the same, except maybe the high end cars, camrys and some rollas due to weird shaped radios.

the only problem is the antenna. I have a frs unit for my fj cruiser, but i have to figure the antenna.

found it...
