Custom Box Plans
I asked one of my Construction teachers if he can build a custom subwoofer box that fits on the side of your trunk ( like the OEM audio+ thing) and he said he can look into it if I have the plans.....
Im pretty new to this but does anyone have "plans" for their custom box that they can share with me? Thanks! |
No, they aren't gonna share their build plans for that exact reason
|
Most of those are made with molds anyway, not just making a mdf box for sure.
|
Make your own plans. Make a cardboard mockup so you can test fit, and get the shape right, and then use that to build the real thing.
|
I see so its not something you can just make with your construction teacher who has never done anything like this before?

Edit: And be prepared to fail at first. Learning how to build things like this takes a lot of experimentation. Almost no one gets it right on their first try. |

If you want bass the easy way, several companies offer pre-loaded enclosures that are matched to a speaker or your local car audio place could recommend a sub and enclosure pairing. If you truely want to learn, then you can learn how to size the enclosure to the sub and then choose whether you buid or buy the correctly sized enclosure. |
What is a 'construction teacher'? Do they build houses? Skyscrapers?
Get someone that knows what they're doing to help you, or just buy one. |

You'll find that people aren't likely to be able to "share" their plans with you because if you are making a custom box (I think you mean fiberglass), then you just need to get in there and make it. As you go, you'll want to measure the airspace that will be inside the box to fit your application (ie, the Vb specifically required by your subwoofer). Hope this helps.
Hopefully this will also help. I've measured the airspace within the cavity below the rear quarter window glass. This cavity has approximately 1 ft3, but you can get up to 1.25 ft3 if you move out of it a bit. I haven't measured the boot space within the trunk. Good luck! |
