ACDelco Light Weight AGM Battery $27 shipped
 

Just picked up a 3.6 lbs from Amazon for $27 shipped. Description states 290 cranking amps at 32 F. The spec of our Panasonic ones are 320 CCA and 29.2lbs. ~25 lbs weight difference. I have been using an Odyssey PC680 in my EK9 for years with no problem, until the car sat for a week. I think should be fine with the weather in the Bay Area, California. Simmons (on this forum) is using a 1.5lbs. Anyone else running anything that light, especially daily?

290CA at 32F is very different from 320CCA at 0F.

True. However, I dont think too many people running with that battery will be trying to operate their vehicles at 0F. I think itll be fine in warmer weather. Worst case, a battery warmer will do the trick.

True, but I'm wary of aftermarket battery manufacturer's testing/rating method for (C)CA.

My car has enough trouble starting in the 20s and 30s on the stock battery.

3 AH and prob less than 200 CCA.... You're very brave to try this. I'm running a 5lb Shorai. 540 CCA & 36 AH.

It'll probably start your car as a fresh battery but doesn't the 3AH life scare you? Are you going to disconnect the battery or hook up a tender everytime you leave your car for a few days? Are you going to DD this battery or is it a raceday swap? Prob work just fine for the latter.

I'll see if this battery works out for DD, if not it will be a track day swap. As long as I do not leave accessories on while the car is off and drive it daily I think this should hold up for a year or 2. For $27, there's Tamiya battery packs that cost more than this.

Hey, I just ordered this battery but in a much larger size. Looks like the largest battery with 30Ah, weighing 22lbs, would be a better fit for a car application. Here's the current discussion regarding the same topic:

After my extended research, it looks like these batteries do not all put out 290 cranking amps as stated. There's no way that a 6Ah battery can put out the same 290 cranking amps as a 30Ah battery. I found the 30Ah battery will put out 385 CCA according to very similar products in weight, dimensions, and capacity.

After a quick comparison between the 6Ah battery and other batteries of similar dimensions, weight, and capacity, it looks like the 6Ah battery should only be putting out 90-100 CCA. Here are some references:
