Toe Link Install problems
Trying to install toe links on the rear but im having trouble removing them from the knuckle(?) , any idea how to get them out? tried banging them out, using a puller and it wont budge. the "toe bolt" comes out fine
|
You might need a pickle fork.
|
Looks like it might be it, ill check into that . Thanks

Hit the knuckle sideways so you're transmitting the force at a 90 degree angle from the ball joint. If you keep hitting it on the stud, you can mushroom the threads.

Another easy way to avoid mushrooming the threads is to put the nut on a little proud, and hit the nut. |
lol tried the hitting the nut and fucked up the threads on the nut. picked up a pickle fork as @Calum suggested and worked like a charm. you sir are a noble gentlemen.

Them is in their tight. Fork worked for me too |
With a pickle fork, it's easy to tear the boot. Something to consider if you ever want to reuse or resell. If you hit the knuckle at a 90, after a minute or so, the ball joint will slide off and leaves the toe link in perfect condition.

Next time I might try a modified version of HG's idea by using an air hammer instead of a BFH. Should make things easier on the arms and the surronding mounting points. If the snow ever melts and I finally get under my car, I'll report my findings. Sorry it didn't work out for you. |

I felt weird pouding on it with the bfh at the 90 degree angle after several blows, but youre saying stay with it, put in the ear plugs and whack-away, huh...will try that next time. Thanks for sure |
