AMR Performance: Cold Air Intake System - BRZ/FR-S/GT86

We would like to thank Richard (brichard0625) for giving us the opportunity to use his vehicle.

Completely Stock

Disclaimer: (not all dynos read the same)

Richard had lent us his stock FR-S to do some dyno tests as well as product R&D.

The following dyno plot is the vehicle completely stock and the engine up to normal operating tempatures:

As you can see, the results are similiar to what everyone was already expecting. Lets not forget the infamous DIP!

Design

There are plenty of functional designs currently on the market. For those who have used AMR products in the past, you know if you we are going to make a product, it will need to better and different than what is already out there!

We tested different designs, paths, materials, bends, etc.... and our final design lead us with the largest and most consistant gains.

Through the R&D, we found our final design made a extra 6hp increase with no tuning operating at normal driving tempatures as well as an increase in HP and TQ throughout the RPM band.

The largest gains were made:

Pictures to come....

So there was a decrease in torque up to 3250 rpm?

Foobar 03-26-2013 11:28 AM

Gain looks good. Any AFR logs to go against the plot?

Bottom end torque is worrisome.

Was this right after an ECU reset?

AFR charts? I'd be interested to see if the gains are from design, or leaning...

I'd like to see AFR plots, stock vs with intake but especially short and long term fuel trims before and after.... they way these cars hold closed loop on the stock tune can create big fuel trim swings that get applied under WOT.

I'm curious to see the AFRs as well. Nice results on the torque "dip". I must say I'm surprised an intake would have any effect on that after seeing much of the testing performed over the last several months.

The loss in low-end torque seems consistent with just about every other intake out there though.

Any chances of a picture of the full intake?

As far as I know, only the AFE, FA20 Club and Perrin CAI didn't lose low end. The rest did.

I will say i dont feel any power loss at all down low. If anything the power seems a little smoother when cruising. The one thing that i do like is that you can feel the extra power once you hit 3000-3200 and you never feel like it dies off. It just follows through all the way up to about 7200. Right now i 've been driving it around on the stock tune to really see how it reacts to the stock tune. JV sent me an updated pump gas tune that i will upload tonight before i hit the gym and ill try an do a virtual dyno graph using the mustang dyno setting since the dynadynamics is close to a mustang dyno numbers wise.

Not to thread jack but is there any data/dynos/etc on the short ram?
