Weapon R Intake...
 
Hi guys I just wanted to let you all know about the new Weapon R Intake System. I've had this on my car for quite awhile now and I have noticed a big difference in performance and power.The final product is finally available for purchase and we are in the process of dynoing soon so we know exatcly what the power gains will be. If anyone has any questions just let me know and ill try to answer them for you, but in the mean time here are a few pics please let us know what you think

Could someone please explain this to me.

It looks like it's using the stock snorkle and just put a pod filter in the same location as the stock air box.

Is there going to be any gain from this?

I believe it doesnt make any difference with the stock snorkel I just havent remibed it seeing as I havent had time to take off my bumper. And were still waiting fo r the gains

I think the gain will be from the tube design, not the filter design.

The design causes a three stages of air flow to occur - turbulent at the filter base / meter > laminar through the tube > turbulent at the throttle body

Im assuming the design allows for a "smooth" transition at the 90* bend before it enters the engine. The stock mess causes oscillations that amplify certain frequencies in the multiple resonators but is also a more "turbulent" transition into the engine from the filter.

This is why I believe the injen intake makes as much power as it does - it forces the meter to read highly turbulent flow because of the chamfer before the meter.

I like this design. Some will be ape shit paranoid about intake temps though. I suggest leaving the stock snorkel to help induction of ambient temp air.

Just from eyeballing it, it looks like the piping is larger than stock. If you put the AFM in a larger than stock pipe, it will read less airflow than there actually is, and lean out the fuel mixture, correct? Be interesting to see the air/ fuel logs on the dyno.

As long as the tubing at the MAF is the same diameter as stock there will be no major issue. Errors and false readings at the MAF will be attributed to non-uniform flow characteristics (injen intake)

As far as I know the MAF is exactly the same diameter as the stock.

It is cool looking intakes... i know that premier autowerkz sold weapon r stuff in my country... if this gains good powerband without a tune (auto tranny) i would like to have 1 installed...

No problemo - aerodynamics and flow properties are essentially what i went to school for.

Another kinda cool thing i just noticed about it is that the bell shape from the 90* tube to the throttle body silicon connector acts as a velocity stack of sorts. This allows for an even smoother transition into the engine.

Looks like the 90 deg bend pipe size is bigger than 3", otherwise, it doesnt need to step down when it's closed to the TB...
