BRZ headlight upgrade, paint, demon eyes (PICTURE HEAVY)

Ok guys and gals i think its time i made a thread on this forum about my upgrade to my headlights. Ive had a lot of help from the guys of Hidplanet.com with this and as of right now im still not finished.

This is not complete i messed up some of the paint so that has to be redone and im not done playing with the projectors then i need to mount the led's and i should be done.

The point of this was to show you guys 1 what im doing and a kind of DIY if you need anything clarified please let me know also any questions please feel free to ask!! (i am three weeks into this today its not as easy as the frs headlights!!) i am also not responsible if you mess up your headlights!!

so i started off with this diy right here steps 1-15

here is where it gets different brz/frs
first pull out your HID bulbs
http://i421.photobucket.com/albums/p...BRZ/photo1.jpg

then you can take out all your wiring and your ballast some people say this has to be done some say it does not before putting your headlights in the oven.

http://i421.photobucket.com/albums/p...Z/photo3-2.jpg
http://i421.photobucket.com/albums/p...Z/photo4-2.jpg
you see there is a rubber gasket there to keep moisture out and there is a hook inside the actual light holding the wires in place.
http://i421.photobucket.com/albums/p...photo3-1-1.jpg
unplug your ballast and your good to put them in the oven
http://i421.photobucket.com/albums/p...photo4-1-1.jpg

http://i421.photobucket.com/albums/p...Z/photo1-7.jpg
for 15 min
MAKE SURE no wiring is touching your oven!!
http://i421.photobucket.com/albums/p...Z/photo2-7.jpg

everything pulled apart

The BRZ comes stock with the Lexus RX350-Bx projector after some research i have found out that the projector is one of the best on the market. BUT it comes with a "fresnel" lens which looks like this
http://i421.photobucket.com/albums/p...photo2-2-1.jpg
and a clear lens looks like this
http://i421.photobucket.com/albums/p.../photo3-23.jpg

you can do a lot of reading on clear lenses at the retrofit source. When swaping your lens out you can either have your oem ones polished or use a STI-R lens with slight modification. i chose to send mine out to have them polished.

For those wondering which wires control the LED "boomerange"its the green/black coming out of the back of the headlights.

Get everything ready for paint

http://i421.photobucket.com/albums/p.../photo3-17.jpg
http://i421.photobucket.com/albums/p.../photo4-16.jpg

and then paint

http://i421.photobucket.com/albums/p.../photo5-15.jpg
http://i421.photobucket.com/albums/p...Z/photo3-9.jpg make sure everything important is taped off (cutoff shield solenoids)

Primer

Base coat
http://i421.photobucket.com/albums/p.../photo1-11.jpg

Clear
http://i421.photobucket.com/albums/p.../photo2-14.jpg

http://i421.photobucket.com/albums/p...Z/photo5-9.jpg

put everything back together to admire your work
http://i421.photobucket.com/albums/p.../photo1-20.jpg
http://i421.photobucket.com/albums/p.../photo4-20.jpg

put everything back together bulbs and all but obviously dont bake anything you dont have lenses! The reason for this is to get your projectors hot make sure everything still works after it has been painted and also you are some what baking the paint on to your cutoff shield.

once this is done and everything works you can move onto your led's i order wedge led's off ebay in color red and the bases are from superbright led.com

http://i421.photobucket.com/albums/p.../photo2-24.jpg
http://i421.photobucket.com/albums/p.../photo4-22.jpg

With lenses i found it was best to shine the led from the side
http://i421.photobucket.com/albums/p.../photo5-21.jpg
http://i421.photobucket.com/albums/p.../photo3-25.jpg

testing my output

This is not complete i messed up some of the paint so that has to be redone and im not done playing with the projectors then i need to mount the led's and i should be done.

Nice, I've considered taking mine apart again and painting reflectors also, and regret not removing "squirrel finders" while I was in there.

Rather spend little on cosmetic and more on performance.

Why did you choose to have the stock lenses polished over getting the STI-R lenses? Only reason I ask is your cutoff (assuming the pictures of it are with the polished lenses) doesn't look nearly as sharp as it should be. How far away from the wall were you?

Can't wait to see completed pics. I had no idea these housings used the RX350 bi-x projectors. I absolutely love mine.

Those are un tuned from about 10 feet i chose this route because in order to fit the sti-r you must use a sanding wheel to widen the lens holder the oem fits right back in... When i get home from colorado on tuesday im going to add washers to tune the cutoff. Should only take one #6 washer on all sides and some playing around. Either way with the sti-r or oem polished the projector must be tuned.
