Scam

Buy from reputable dealer. Unichip? Or ecutek. Unichip is a lot cheaper. But I much rather buy ecutek. Because I'm not gonna pretend like I know how to tune

the guy selling them on ebay has an outstanding track record and gives you 100% money back guarantee. i didnt think they could make stuff like that to give you more power.

DJCarbine 05-12-2013 09:25 PM

Link to said performance chip?

Its not going to work, but I just want to see how they managed to sell something like that and what its made out of

It's crap....these things have been around for years milking suckers out of their money on ebay...jeezus

It took 10 years for obdII tuning for established platforms to drop to the $300 price range. I don't see myself ever trusting a $100 tune on a new platform.

I call scam but I'm surprised at the high number of positive feedback from buyers with a decent number of feedbacks (meaning they don't look like throwaway IDs).

Placebo effect

Fast_Freddy 12-14-2013 02:25 AM

I'm pretty sure that most of those so-called "performance chips" are little more than a resistor that gets wired in parallel with the intake air temp sensor. The idea is to make the ECU read colder than actual intake air which leads to potentially richer AFR and more ignition timing advance. Any real world effect will vary quite a bit from car to car and be short-lived but it may be enough for the user to "feel" a slight change before the ECU adjusts to it.

Definitely a placebo effect mod and not worth more than the <$1 resistor used.

I can't believe "chips" are still around.

Muaddib 12-14-2013 02:56 AM

Mmm chips.
