New trans, window, and cricket fix!

So I went in for some warranty checks on some problem areas, and its going to be a long repair process.

My trans was grinding from 1st to 2nd. Diagnosis: new trans

My passengers window drivers switch is getting replaced.

The passengers window and weather stripping is also getting replaced as the window is deformed and has torn through the weather stripping.

My Bluetooth connection issues go I diagnosed and are considered a product of my iphone 5.

Amazing dealership experience and I am really appreciative of their prompt attention to my issues and a solid resolution.

For some reason, my crickets under the hood is not getting replaced, but there is an additive (or add on) that makes it quieter. Is that new? I thought everyone else got it replaced.

Dealership found no problem with my grinding 2nd, 3rd, or harsh 6th. Lucky you.

Is this additive something your dealer is doing on their own or is this a Toyota/Scion directed "fix" ?

It sounded like it was a new Toyota thing. He said additive, but I think he meant add on. I would guess its going to be sound deadening. That's just a guess, but it will be a couple weeks until he gets in the tranny, so we are scheduling only one appt. I'll let you guys know what happens with the fuel pump, but I'm sure if its a standard fix, someone else will report first.

Where you 1st-2nd grind only happens when car is cold? Or always?

NOHOME 03-08-2013 10:41 AM

Scion tells me the grinding is normal and acceptable. This is now a standard I will apply to any potential Toyota or Subaru products for the rest of my car buying life.

What magic words did you use to get the action you are getting?

If this is a common grinding issue, we will see when the trans gets replaced. It's a pretty rough grind, so I assume it was just too much to be considered normal.

I see there is a new passengers window switch for Subaru with a better logic board that works correctly. Any word on the Toyota part number?

Wow.. I take mine in next week for my first oil change, and I have to get the window switch, pump squeak (even though it's already been replaced once) and transmission/clutch looked at. Hopefully I have as good of a resolution as you! My 1st to 2nd gear switch is always labored and NOISY and there's no reason it should be that way

They probably read this forum and will give you a bottle of 2 stroke oil and a tea spoon.

I would bet money that both of these issues will return.
