What transmission fluid are you using?

Just wondering what MT transmission fluid most people here are using. Let me know if you want me to add any other options.

We've had phenomenal service from Motul Gear 300 over the years and have switched over to that as our standard Trans and Diffy fluid for both the BRZ and the Subaru Platforms.

Many here switched to Motul including myself. Once it's warmed up it's definitely smoother, but sometimes when it's cold it's almost impossible to downshift from 3rd to 2nd.

I shouldn't have to double clutch to downshift when cold...is pentosin the only thing that helps COLD?

Redline MT-85 is supposed to be similar to Pentosin with regards to shift quality when cold. Still waiting to see if anyone has tried it.

We use this in NY/NJ where it's cold all winter. No such issues on any of our cars here and we've installed Motul Gear 300 in a lot of transmissions over the years.

Double clutching doesn't help. Even when I'm at a stop sometimes it won't go into 2nd, even tho 1st goes in.

I would have it looked at while it's still under warranty. Or change the fluid to stock and see if that makes a difference.

Do you happen to know what is the factory fluid?

I'm pretty sure it's the Motul fluid. It never had this problem when I was on stock fluid. I ordered a lab kit and I'm planning on changing soon.

There's always the chance I over or under filled but I've done trans fluid quite a few times.

I can't get into 2nd from 3rd unless I double clutch...so either you live somewhere colder or your box is screwier.

@AZP Installs I take it you were talking about Motul Gear 300?

Actually tonight I tried to replicate the problem and it does go in when I double clutch. It's not cold here, I live in SoCal. Actually tonight was freezing. 55F

You would need to get it from a dealer, I'm not sure what it is, even if you could get it outside of a dealer, it could be a different blend for "public" consumption.
