I was changing the brightness of the dash lights and my finger just brushed against the boot open button as I'm driving up to a red light...

had to pull over and close the boot again.

That's the ONLY thing I don't like that much about it - hardly a thing, just found the button so sensitive in a spot that is hard to see and right next to something else you might want to adjust....

Ironically, my boot [trunk] release takes a couple second delay to actually work. But let see others' boot button is that sensitive.

I haven't noticed that. However it is not something I would be concerned about because once I have adjusted my instrument lights, which I have already done, I never change that setting. I won't be going back to that area of the dash again unless I'm reaching for the boot button.

Actually, it's something that can be programmed by the dealer. I hate having to wait 2 seconds to open it on my key, so in the manual it says you can have the dealer set it so it opens on first touch. I guess it's a safety issue so it's not always opening by accident while in your pocket. Same goes for the dash button. It's programmed the same as the key. I'm also going to have them set the loudness of the beep to maximum when you hit the lock button on the key. Sometimes, I can barely hear it!

My boot also only opens after I keep the button down for at least 2 seconds.
It's kinda annoying. I want it to open immediately. I use the boot eveyday, at least twice a day.
So it's programmable by the dealer you say.

I've had bags get stuck on the emergency pull open for the trunk and open the trunk on me...

Kinda scary.

There are two 'boot access buttons' being discussed here. The OP has a concern about the dash button being too sensitive, while others are talking about the key fob button seems to take a second or two to release... Back to your post, nothing to see here.

I wonder if there's different programming for the dash boot/trunk release button, the OP is in Australia, but the US folk (and one from South Africa) that has posted so far have the 2 second delay. I actually thought something was wrong with my trunk button when I first picked up the car (didn't have a chance to peruse the owner's manual yet) and then realized I have to push and hold it for 2 seconds. It's about 2-3 seconds on my key fob as well. Might be worth a call to the dealer about some re-programming to see if it effects just the fob or the dash button as well.

My dash button has a 2 second delay or so, as does my key fob. Both are kinda annoying, but i've learned to live with it.

It's a trunk in Canada too BTW. But no I haven't. I actually have to hold mine for three seconds (both on key and in car) to open my trunk.

Both my dash and key trunk release button make you hold for at least 2 seconds.

I've had this happen with stuff in the trunk too. Had to pull over and close the trunk.

Things that aren't strapped down have a tendency to fly around in this car. I've given up on using those weighted mounts for GPS that sit on the dash. You take one curve and the GPS is in the backseat.

Can also confirm that my dash and fob buttons both have a 2 second delay. Don't mind it too much since it prevents OP's situation from happening.

Plus I'm getting older and much much more patient these days - what's an extra 2 seconds going to do to your life?
