In the wind?
Hey guys! I am just a prospective buyer of a FR-S/BRZ and wanted to know if any of you notice any changes in your car's performance in high winds? My current car is about 100 lbs lighter than the FR-S and it is horrible in any wind; the car goes all over the road. Just wondering if it would be as noticeable in a FR-S with what I would assume has better aerodynamics or what have you. Thanks for any replies!

It was incredibly windy here yesterday, and I never noticed a thing.

I'd say that I've had two totally different experiences in my BRZ… The first wind I encountered I felt like it was really getting blown around; however, ever since then it seems to cut through wind like a knife! My guess is that one time the wind gave me issues it was hitting the car just right to do so. I’ll also add that even though the wind upset the car some, it wasn’t drastic enough to be scary. Just noticeable!

Occasionally I notice the wind but it's not enough to be scary or anything.

DO NOT DRIVE IN THE WIND! this car will start to fly into outer space and crash on the moon! You don't want that to happen!

My BRZ moves around a bit in crosswinds but nothing excessive. I've driven far worse, like the current generation Corolla, which tap-dances all over the highway if someone so much as farts in a passing car.

Don't worry about wind, it's not enough to be a problem... |
My worst experience was when high winds were directly blowing perpendicular to me. It was pretty much a little nudge every now and then, definitely much better than my previous car (an Accord). Otherwise, perfectly planted. I have a feeling high speeds and tires also effect it too.

I haven't noticed the wind at all when driving.
With that said, my other car is a Cube... |
After owning a VW Vanagon (bus) for many years, a long time ago, I don't concern myself with cross winds in my low slung FR-S.
:burnrubber: |
Much less noticeable than in my truck, much lower, much grippier. I've had winds try to make me change lanes before, not in this thing. You do have to be more alert than something less sensitive though, more aware of what you're doing to the wheel.
The wind definitely hits my mpg meter by 3-4. |
Wind has not been a big deal, but I come from the xB which was a damn wind sail. I will say becareful of grooved roads, they pull the car around worse than any other car I have driven.
