question about window tinting
when the tint is first applied, the shop usually tells you do not roll the window for couple of days. but for the brz/frs, you know when you open and close the door the window automatically rolls a bit. how should we do about that?

They basically left that top "border" of the window pane untinted. So the very top portion of the window that goes in and out of the rubber seal is left untinted. That left the top "safe", but I was still worried about the bottom of the window since it's still being rubbed when the door opens and closes. I just tried to avoid driving my car for 2 days, and there seems to be no rubbing or scrapes on the bottom at all. |
The window only moves about a 1/2- 3/4 of an inch at most. I thinl it should be fince considering it's only a small amount. If your paranoid about it though I would just let it set for a couple days.

Just got mine done....guy said to open the doors as little as posible for a 24hrs. No big deal.

yea alot of coupes do that, its no big deal. unless they did a shitty job, i wouldnt worry about it. i had zero issues with mine, i have 5 all the way around and 50 on my windshield.

As long as the tinter knows what he's doing, you'll be okay.

Mine hit it with a heat gun to ensure a proper adhesion and suggested I just don't roll them down for a few days and keep it parked in sunlight. The auto down on open was not a concern for him at all.
If you're really concerned, you can disable the door open switch. Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2 |
My guy tinted all the way to the top, and I drove the hell out of my car the following days. The door window went up and down probably over 100 times. It made no difference at all on the final result of my window tint. It looks great.

I wouldn't want the window only tinted 98%, if the guy knows what he is doing you will be fine. If you are still worried pull power window fuse or relay. Easy

This has the side effect, however, of not turning on the dome light or triggering the security system as well, so you have that to deal with. |

As far as I know, this doesn't damage the window. |
