Help! Headlights/turn signals don't work and I can't get my car out of park

I just installed the relay for led turn signals. When I pulled out the old relay, it snapped in half. Now my "bright lights are on" light is lit up on my instrument panel. My headlights and turn signals do not work (front or rear). Rear lights and side markers work. The new turn signals light up, but they dont blink. instrument panel doesnt show blinkers when attempting. When I turn my car off, with the lights in the "off" position, my car beeps, telling me that my lights are on. Now my car wont get out of park!!! Help!!! Seller said i may have blown a fuse, what exactly do I need to do?? i have no clue!! Now car is off, keys are out, and my side markers and rear tail lights are still on, but lights are set to "off"

I had this exact same thing happen. I assume you didn't disconnect the battery when you tried installing your relay? You just blew a fuse.

Ok good- sounds simple. Which fuse?? Any idea

Sorry, don't remember which one. I didn't know what was going on, and panicked so I called Scion roadside assistance. They replaced the fuse for me under warranty, though I probably could have done it myself if I knew exactly what was wrong.

Did u have all the same "symptoms" as me??

i_4got 01-07-2013 03:33 PM

Yup, everything was exactly the same. My instruments panel lit up and wouldn't turn off, the turn signals stayed on but wouldn't blink, side markers and rear lights stayed on. I couldn't turn any of these lights off, and I couldn't get my car out of "park".

This also happened to me when I tried to install my new relay, but forgot to disconnect the battery first.

My dad is on the way to fix this. Guess that's why they say women should stay in the kitchen! I hope once the fuse is replaced, everything is back to normal

Lol well it looked so simple! I didn't know to disconnect the battery.

Cajun 01-07-2013 04:17 PM

But you should be proud that I at least tried!!!

Cajun 01-07-2013 04:18 PM

Oh and I'm gay, which gives me even more reason to try this myself! Lol

Ok...why did you pull the relay when you had power on/key turned in the first place? I did not disconnect my battery when I did it, I just did not have the key in - simple. Also how did you break it? Gentle!

Cajun 01-07-2013 04:21 PM

I didn't have the key in when I pulled out/ changed the relay.

Cajun 01-07-2013 04:22 PM

I put my key in once the lights and relay were installed
