speaker replacement

I'm looking to replace the speakers in my FR-S. Looking for suggestions for those of you who have done so already. Don't plan on adding a sub yet or replacing the basic head unit. I've been looking around quite a bit and haven't been able to find much other than the size needed. Thanks in advance. Thought we could use a thread of who has what installed and how they like it.

I'm in the same boat...
I'm deployed in Afghan, returning in less than a month, ordered me a FRS to be delivered about the time I'm getting home.... wanting to replace the factory speakers. I'm interested in suggestions as well....

Add a sub and a double din deck that has equalizer settings and can change x-over settings to make changes to the factory speakers. Just added 2 JL Wv2 10's and a pioneer deck and it sounds really crisp! I will be changing out factory speakers later on. I just wanted to get the base and most expensive portion out of the way. But if you dont want subs...... Look into Vocal or JL c5 or c3's.......

I feel like there needs to be one end all be all video of someone replacing every speaker and adding a new head unit/subwoofer so that questions like this can be answered more easily. Audio is one of those things where everyone has a preference. Idk if there are any audio specialists on the forum though :/

I put Focal P165v15 splits in the front. 6.5" speakers fit in the door no problem, but you'll need to make a spacer (I just used 16mm MDF), as the standard bracket is part of the stock speaker. I used an aluminium bracket to mount the tweeter where the 3" dash hole is (it wouldn't fit in the tweeter area). For the rears, the stock speakers are 3", so I put in a pair of 2 way 4" Rockford Powers. Once again, you'll need to make an MDF spacer, but there's enough space in the back sides for up to an 8" sub (You'll need to modify though, the grill is only 3.5", and it's off to the side).

I would say just get a JBL MS8, it will do wonders and anything you may do down the road would shine even more.
