Center Stack Rattle anyone?

I've been getting a rattle from the center stack area :mad0260:
It only wants to show up after about 20 - 30 minutes of driving. The days have been cold around here so it could be cabin temperature related.

Once it starts to rattle it will continue at any speed I can manage during my commute (2-3 mph up to 55mph) It disappears when the car is stationary and usually reappears once I start moving.

The rattle seems to be coming from the trim around the HVAC vents above the radio head unit.
If I press firmly on the trim the rattle stops until I release the pressure.
Pressing down hard on the top of the dash will also stop the rattle but pressing on the trim seems to need less force.

Anyone else have this?
Anyone removed trim pieces in this area and can point me at a "how to" so I don't break anything when I try?

Thanks.

I have this. I press up on the faux carbon trim just above the HVAC and it stops, only to return a minute or so after I let go.

I have the same issue on my BRZ, any luck?

I had a rattle up there. The tops of the center AC vents have loosely fitting pieces of plastic that need to be taped down. There was a thread on it, but I can't find it now.

Just remove the trim around the radio and there should be a couple of screws holding the vents in place. Remove them, and pull out the vents. You'll notice what needs to be taped down on top of the vent assembly.

Try to use that felt tape stuff that some car companies use.

In the video you can hear the tick tick tick. That's the sound i'm hearing. Anyone else experience the same thing?

I had it and fixed it. I really think it's the top of the AC vent in your case as well. Definitely worth checking out

Alright, will be taking a look at it today, so it's clearly visible when i pull off the trim piece?

i took the vents out and taped the top part that's loose and the rattle is still there :mad0259: it sounds like it's coming from below the audio deck and behind the hvac knobs..... :mad0259::mad0259::mad0259:

Ah bummer. Maybe it's some wires tapping around back there

that's what I'm thinking, gonna have to wait until i have more free time on my hands to pin point this, might even tell the people at the dealership to do it. I'll have to live with it for now. :brokenheart:
