Perrin drop in figment issue

Has anybody else had a problem installing the perrin drop in filter? It seems that the foam surround is too thick to close the air box all the way. When I clamp the top of the box back the bottom still has about an eighth inch gap and won't close all the way.

Make sure you are fitting the filter the right side.

I had some issues with the K&N filter because I didn't line up the filter properly. Move it around and see if it aligns.

You are imagining things.

Same problem here :( I just left it like that tho. cant make it fit right.

It could be that the bottom of the box isn't clipped in all the way making it tough. We had a customer call about this a few weeks back, and we checked it with an air box we had sitting around, and it was fine. I even had one of our sales girls test it out to make sure it wasn't too hard to close and it was just fine. My guess is the filter is backwards, or it may not be centered in the air box properly.

Let us know if that helps and if not give us a ring Monday and lets figure it out! LATER!

my hks gave me the same problem...u have to fight with a little and make sure it lines up right...if im not mistaken the fat part of filter is suppose to face you and you have to pay attention to the curves of the filter cuz theres one corner that is different from the other three

I had the same problem on my Cosworth filter, just have to keep at it you can get it closed.

We made the edge in a foam so it can have a nice seal, were the stock part has a strange lip formed in that paper like material. It makes the box seal nice and tight, but also can be a bit trickier to get it all lined up. Especially since the inlet hose holds it from opening too far. You can always unbolt the box from the car (just 3 bolts and a hose clamp) and do it that way.

the foam fits fine, obtain a symmetrical 2mm overlap around edge all way around then seal it up. works great.

I had issues with my bottom lining up when I first installed and then it seemed like the top was off. You have to make sure the bottom is in snugly, then pull it tightly closed and snap the top latches.

its normal, the fitment is tight and it has to be just right. my buddy's aFe drop in was the same thing.

DSOmegaX 11-10-2012 07:47 PM

Same here. Normal. Had to wrestle it a bit but got it to fit tightly sealed.

Thanks guys, I went back and put a little more muscle into it and got it to line up correctly. I was just being too cautious trying not to break anything the first time.
