Video: Kei Miura and the TRA-Kyoto GT86/FR-S Rocket Bunny

Kei Miura has been been an underground hero within his native Osaka for many years. Outlaw kanjo racer by night and with a yancha bōsōzoku past that, even at 42 years old, he refuses to outgrow. Miura-san also happens to be the man behind TRA-Kyoto.

TRA-Kyoto are leaders in the design of body kits, embracing modern CAD design in an industry that still heavily relies on clay and foam sculpturing. Working with most major tuning shops and body kit brands within Japan, TRA-Kyoto also produce their own range of products such as the 6666 Customs range focusing mainly on the Nissan S chassis. When Miura-san turned his attention towards the car of the moment, the GT86/FR-S, few would have expected the explosion in interest that his Rocket Bunny creation would have.

Man, that dude's got some serious swagger. Not the kind you can buy from the American Eagle store.

And some serious cars to boot!

Great video I know the FR-S is made in Japan but I though they where only selling the GT86 there. He obviously has some connections and the same as a real GT86 is rare in the states I'm sure the FR-S will be rare there if it is only going to be for sale in North America.

I don't think he imported a USDM FR-S. I think he did like US consumers do, and convert to the other standard. We go JDM, they do a lot of USDM stuff.

Yeah I think if he pulled some strings he could get an FR-S they are made there but it could just be rebadged like a lot of people are doing with the toyota symbols.

Gixxersixxerman 11-08-2012 12:52 AM

That's more then a rebadge.. It looks like a us spec FRS.. It's even Left hand drive..

Yeah I think he talked scion into letting him buy an FR-S from the assembly plant. That can be done here in the USA for diesel cars that we only export but it has to be paid in full no financing.

Yup it's a Scion. Scions are cool in Japan.

Love the way the car looks on the streets in that vid...something still photos just can't capture.

Tylub 11-08-2012 04:42 AM

why does that rocket bunny kit look so amazing...
would be overkill on a street though, but to hell with it!
I WANT IT

I wonder how the FRS would look with fender mounted mirrors instead of door mounted?

Captain Insano 11-08-2012 02:00 PM

The pokey wheels are a little much, but it does look dang mean overall. Pretty cool.

ooharloo 11-08-2012 02:08 PM

WOW

This guy is my hero. I love his out look on things and his designs are so breath taking! I WANT WANT WANT the rocket bunny kit on my car!

Impressive... yes.

That is some video. Advertising at its communicative best. And I'll bet that it speaks a transoceanic/transcontinental car language. Makes me curious to see some of Kei Miura's other work.
