factory differential fluid warning

for the past month or so I've noticed a slight catching/roughness/vibration in the rear end when turning from a stop so I decided to change out the diff fluid as a quick and easy thing to try to see if would make a difference.

When I drained the factory fluid only 1 liter came out. I believe the specs say it should have around 1.3 liters so it was definitely low. Sludge on the magnetic drain plug.

Filled it up to the fill hole until it was just barely "weeping" out with 1.25 liters of Motul 300 LS 75w90 (LS stands for LImited Slip).

The slight catching/roughness/vibration completely gone - nothing but smoothness now.

So check your factory fluid fill levels and use quality fluids. It makes a difference.

I thought we were suppose to use the normal Motul 300. Not the LS?

Thats what I thought since we don't need the FM.

You can use either regular Gear 300 or Gear 300 LS.

Our differentials do not need the LS additives, at the same time, having it will not do it any harm, just spending a bit extra for something that isn't needed.

No Limit should be able to get it to you quickly, i got mine in 2 days from NY to Arkansas. I'm hoping to change mine out this week i should have done it when i installed the cat back but i have to put the overpipe on this week too so it will be back on the lift.

the motul 300 feels much better than the oe fluid

I just grabbed some locally. Motorcycle shops carry motul products so its easy to find :) a lot easier than the torco mtf I ended up ordering through amazon.

I had the same issue as the OP. changed out the fluid to Lucas and the vibration/grind is gone. I didn't measure the amount of OEM fluid I drained but the drain plug definately had a lot of material on the maganet.

Figured it would have a lot of shavings.Im planning to change all fluids at 1500 miles

A lot of material on the magnet is pretty standard for new diffs. S2K had a ton, RX7s had a ton, etc.
