Rear license plate screws
I got my car from the dealer and made sure they didn't drill the front bracket for the license plate. I just installed a Perrin front plate holder and went to install my rear plate and realized I didn't have mounting hardware. Did your car come with a couple screws in the glove box or did you just have to go buy some? Can anyone advise me as to what size I would need?

auto parts store, or your dealer will have some

#14 X 3/4" pan (or truss) head stainless steel self tapping (sheet metal) screws. Should be able to get them at any hardware store or Home Depot.

Totally resurrecting this thread from the bowels of the dead, but I am not fairing well with Google and trying to convert to metric... I'd like to find a pair of bolts that have a 3mm female hex head (for an allen key), but I am finding my ability to translate numbers from SAE to Metric is making my head hurt... or is that #14 x 3/4" already metricish?
:bonk: |
Digging up a thread is better than a repost. Thank you for your effort.

sae and metric bolts are not interchangeable unless its through a hole, but the threads can not be "converted"
I can't help you with the bolts though. I thought there were plastic plugs to thread into, I don't think you should be screwing into the sheet metal. Quote:

The plastic inserts take a self tapping or sheet metal screw, which has very aggressive threads similar to a wood screw. A regular machine or cap screw (aka a bolt) won't really have the bite needed to grab the plastic. #14 diameter is very close to 1/4" (which itself is very close to 6mm). Keep in mind that the size of a bolt is the diameter of the threaded part, not the size of the head. Back when I was selling fasteners, I couldn't count the number of times someone came to the counter asking for a 9/16" bolt, then dropping a 3/8" bolt on the counter with a 9/16" head on it.

You can use 1/4 x 3/4 security screws. These are torx screws with a hole in it. 3.00 at lowes.
H#884690 a52. I lost both of mine today while washing my car... so I had to replace it. Sent from my SM-N900P Excuse the typos (╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻ |
