Now 4th gear is notchy

My first and second gear have been notchy for a few thousand miles now but yesterday I had 4th act up about 5 times. I missed the gear once. The other times it felt like there were to saw blades that I had cut my way between. Think I need to do a transmission fluid upgrade.

Just had my fluid changed to Pentosin. The first day I couldn't really tell a difference, but it seems it has worked into everything and is smooth as butter. Well worth the price of admission.

I'm gonna have to use this stuff. Another local member was telling me about it.

You could try a Friction Modifier before doing a complete fluid change.. This is the stuff the mazdaspeed guys were using: http://www.fordracingparts.com/parts...tKeyField=6930

Thanks. I'll look into it.

5th is starting up now Wtf. Have an appointment on Monday. Going to make sure I'm in the shoo while they are working on it so I can see the fluid level and clutch.

Been at the dealership since 8 this morning. They are thinking a new transmission and or clutch is needed. They have been on the phone all day with Toyota. They agree the 4th gear grinding is not normal. They are dropping the fluid first per Toyota to inspect it then will inspect the clutch. They don't know how long it will take to get either of them delivered yet.

I personnally always take out the OEM fluid, mine litterally stayed 3 days in the car. I am now running redline and with my Billetproshop shifter since 9000km and no issue on my transmission and i have been drifting, roadracing the shatz out of the car.

What are your driving habits? Be cautious with your warranty coverage; its easy for them to call abuse on parts like the clutch/transmission.

Friction modifiers are normally used to help limited slip diffs, which our tranny doesn't have.

Just got the disclaimer they are going to charge me for labor and parts if there is user damage to the clutch. Over a grand. Going to drop the tranny. Was shocked at how thin the tranny fluid is..like water.
