ECU reset post aFe Takeda CAI install
Do you need to reset the ECU (by disconnecting the battery) post install of a cold air intake - I thought the ECU was "intelligent" and learnt on the fly???
|
It smart to disconnect the battery. Also let it idle after you install and start the car. This ECU seems to be picky.

thanks for that (good to see the thanks button is back) - interesting that I could not see that in the instructions suppled!

Yea its always good to reset the ecu and i agree with tim this ecu is picky.. what i do is disconnect for 20 mins then reconnect and let idle for 5-10 mins...it might not feel as responsive from the start but u have to do at least two or three drive cycles i think. I usually pick like a 15-20 mile destination drive there..shut the car off. turn it back on and let it idle for 5 mins again and drive back so that u've completed two drive cycles and u should start feeling the car being a little more responsive

does it matter if you disconnect the positive or negative terminal? i cant seem to get the negative terminal off haha
