Tein H-Tech/AP Lower Control Arm Quicklook
Just wrapped up an install of Tein H-Tech springs and AP Lower Control Arms on @cobrabyte's BRZ. I asked him to come in here and post his review, so look forward to that. @post_break was also there to help being the "jackman". Overall the install went smooth. Took about 6 hours to get her all done. He took me for a ride after it was done. It was a compliant ride, not bouncy. My car with RCE Yellows is definitely stiffer. I look forward to seeing the car after the springs settle.
I was also evaluating the Panasonic Leica DG Summilux 25 1.4. Let's get to it. The Agency Power Lower Control Arms. They also supply the hardware to attach the suspension bits to the arm. However you do need hex key sockets to install them. http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8476/8...753587f2_c.jpg 20121019-LeicaEval-Chris-Tein_HTech-AP_Arms-03 by VictorN07, on Flickr I will say that they are beefy. Carved out of solid aluminium, they seem to be built to last. We didn't get weights, however compared to my Cusco arms, they are very heavy. http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8328/8...96b57d14_c.jpg 20121019-LeicaEval-Chris-Tein_HTech-AP_Arms-04 by VictorN07, on Flickr Due to a debacle with a storefront, these arms would have come laser engraved. http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8196/8...7b9634cf_c.jpg 20121019-LeicaEval-Chris-Tein_HTech-AP_Arms-02 by VictorN07, on Flickr Pillowball is good. However they don't wrap it in rubber like the Cusco. I do like how the turnbuckle to adjust camber isn't tucked in the subframe like my Cusco arms. Remember to adjust the arm so the overall length is the same as the OEM arm as a starting point. Then adjust camber as desired. http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8468/8...5f052d92_c.jpg 20121019-LeicaEval-Chris-Tein_HTech-AP_Arms-05 by VictorN07, on Flickr His car is definitely drive-able http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8050/8...fd892ce7_c.jpg 20121019-LeicaEval-Chris-Tein_HTech-AP_Arms-01 by VictorN07, on Flickr I'm just imagining that Vorshlag Camber plate here http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8467/8...d5728ca9_c.jpg 20121019-LeicaEval-Chris-Tein_HTech-AP_Arms-10 by VictorN07, on Flickr What's missing? http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8336/8...5d3478be_c.jpg 20121019-LeicaEval-Chris-Tein_HTech-AP_Arms-11 by VictorN07, on Flickr Tein H-Tech on the front OEM damper. 2.9K rate. They do not supply bump stops or dust covers. The instructions are also all in Japanese and a call to their USA office yields no English instructions. I'm glad I got the @Racecomp Engineering Yellow and Cusco arm install under my belt. http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8327/8...47cbe47d_c.jpg 20121019-LeicaEval-Chris-Tein_HTech-AP_Arms-06 by VictorN07, on Flickr Tein H-Tech on the rear OEM damper. 4.8K rate. Again had to reuse the bump stop and dust cover. I still hate how the hat doesn't rotate; you have to get the alignment right or the strut won't bolt up to the arm. http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8196/8...3e8020fe_c.jpg 20121019-LeicaEval-Chris-Tein_HTech-AP_Arms-07 by VictorN07, on Flickr @cobrabyte's BRZ finished. http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8196/8...c32071b1_c.jpg 20121019-LeicaEval-Chris-Tein_HTech-AP_Arms-09 by VictorN07, on Flickr Looks good. He is running 17x8 Enkei RPF01 plastidipped. Don't know the offset. Non OEM Camber bolts were used up front. He'll have to tell me what they were. http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8185/8...3a202f7f_c.jpg 20121019-LeicaEval-Chris-Tein_HTech-AP_Arms-08 by VictorN07, on Flickr |
While the spring install was going down, @post_break was installing his newly used Perrin Lightweight pulley with @cobrabyte. The Leica is doing well

Thanks again for your help with this install. Loving the stiffer suspension. Definitely as low as I'd go on just springs.
Now... for them coilovers... :D |
