What does this TSB mean?

Sorry I can't give you a direct link, but it doesn't work.

Go to Safercars.gov

Click on the Vehicle Owners tab

Click on Service Bulletins in the left hand column

Enter the year, make, model of the vehicle. Finally you will get to "retrieve TSBs"

Finally you get this message:

  • Make / Models:

    Model/Build Years:
  • SCION / FR-S
    2013
  • SCION / IQ
    2012-2013
  • SCION / TC
    2011-2013
  • SCION / XB
    2011-2013
  • SCION / XD
    2011-2013
  • Service Bulletin Number:

    SSB-0010-12
  • NHTSA Item Number:

    10045660

  • Summary:

SCION: THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL SENSOR ASSEMBLY HAS A PRECAUTION REGARDING INFORMATION ON INSTALLATION, INSPECTION AND REMOVAL. *PE

looks to be only an inspection nothing more unless install was not done correctly and i am sure its not that big of an issue because i have not been told anything at work

That's what I don't get. Whether it is an inspection of existing faulty sensors, or an inspection as to whether any previously done work needs reinspection?

I will try and remember this when I go to work so I can give a better answer

It is a precautionary bulletin (the same bulletin exists for all Toyota/Lexus/Scion models with drive-by-wire pedal sensors) informing technicians not to put any lubricants or oils into the pedal sensor area. Nothing should be sprayed or applied in that area for fear that it may affect pedal readings.

Interesting. How does the throttle behave if it gets inadvertantly lubed?

I wonder if that might account for a problem in my car?

Badonkadonk.

On a serious note. I would think that if lube got on the throttle sensor then the car would not know how much fuel to dump. Could be less or it could think you have the pedal floored. Erratic possibly.

Wholly hell! I hope all parties were okay. That FR-S was totaled!!! RIP :brokenheart: (is it an FR-S)

Cade01 09-30-2012 12:36 AM

From the looks of the hood, the fender markers, and the fuel door, I would say this is not an FR-S.

Iccmahn 09-30-2012 12:41 AM

It looks like a Tesla Roadster and not an FR-S or a BRZ.

Yruyur 09-30-2012 02:25 AM

Its not an frs I just found a random pic
