Throttle slightly sticking?
Something I have noticed is that when I shift from 4th to 5th, and 5th to 6th at about 3500-4000 RPM, the revs will jump up a couple hundred RPMs almost every time. To make sure it's not just me having a heavy foot and leaving it on the gas before I engage the clutch, I have completely taken my foot off the gas, waiting a split second, then shifted-- and when I do that, the little blip isn't as significant. Does that sound like anything? Have any of you had this happen?

I noticed the same thing a few days ago and did the same exact test. It makes it less significant, but doesn't eliminate it.

Its a electronic throttle thing, i have driven a few cars that do that. I believe the car is holding the throttle open without firing the injectors to burn off any excess fuel for emissions etc.

It has been annoying but I've noticed this too. I up shift slowly and it blips the throttle even with my foot off the gas. Can someone confirm that this is normal for our car? I've watched youtube videos and it doesn't seem to be doing it but maybe because they are flooring it?

I have the same issue. I first noticed it from the sound -- it sounded like I still had my foot on the gas after engaging the clutch pedal, for a split second (revv'ed up). Really annoying. Been trying to adapt my driving style to avoid it. Glad I'm not the only one! Been driving stick for 15 years and never experienced this before.

Totally normal. AFAIK it's something to do with the type of drive-by-wire used in many toyotas/hondas/subies/mitsu, nissans. My tC did it, my dad's SI does it, my FR-S does it. I actually kind of like it, the extra little throttle input negates some of the RPM drop when shifting aggressively and seems to make the shifts a bit more smooth. In my experience if you're using less than 30% throttle it doesn't happen, so I think it's something baked into the DBW system.

Think I read where the 2014 Corvette has something similar with the 7 speed manual trans and they are calling it 'rev-matching' for better shifts.

I was thinking it might have been the drive by wire, but wanted to confirm, thanks.

Don't think i would like this type of throttle control... I rather the old cable style... Like on the supra's....

>>the throttle blip is where the computer 'taps' the throttle on the downshift. The new 370z has that option.
might as well put in a xbox or ps controller |
