Need for Roll Centre Adjuster

Hi,

For those who have lowered their cars either through short springs or coilovers, have you all seen the need for the use of a roll centre adjuster?

Or do the geometry not change so much that it is hardly noticeable?

Appreciate your reply.

Cheers

LOL! Well teasing wasn't my intentions as much as I was just way too thrilled at already curing something that ever so slightly bugged me about the FRS, which is the somewhat harsh city ride, and that politics-legal-PD-induced monster truck ride height....LOL Good thing Tada-san was clever enough to work around it by specifying arms and rods that work over wide range of height, and secure dynamic travel that is consistent through motions. He even touched on the fact that the FRS/BRZ/86 suspension arms are ideal at 20mm drop!!

You'll probably want them for anything more than a 20mm drop.

Here's what I posted in another thread:

Yes I concur with what Duo quoted Tada-san as saying.

20mm is a good spot....any lower and the RCA kit will be helpful. Not "required" but a noticeable improvement. For those who auto-x and it's not allowed by classing it's fine to go lower than that with firm springs.

For those on springs that lower more than 20mm, especially springs that are very soft in the front like just about everyone else out there besides our RCE Yellows, the RCA kit will be more necessary.

Thanks Duo and Andrew,

I was starting to lose hope on this thread, over a hundred views and no reply.

Good to know 20mm drop is sort of a norm.

Again, well done to Racecomp. I know I will be shipping my coilovers w you guys come Christmas.

Thanks, glad to help.

Just to be clear for all, you can safely go past a 20-25mm drop with coilovers more so than with lowering springs due to the firmer rates (plus the fact the coilovers will have more travel when going that low but that's a different issue). But even with coilovers you will see a noticeable benefit when you add the RCA kit at that point. It'll just be mo' better. :)

Does the roll center adapter affect alignment and corner weights?

Alignment, yes. Corner weight, no. You're changing the ball-joint in the lower control arm and the outer tie rod ends. So the strut is essentially untouched. But because you're going to have so much unbolted, and will be messing with the tie rods, you'll want an alignment after to get everything back to where it should be.

Do you know if anyone has the RCA available? Or if anyone is in the process of making them?

Whiteline is likely working on a kit.

RCE has some fancy control arms in the works that I'm sure will offer roll center correction.

Any inside info? About to bite the bullet on Cusco or GTSpec...

We've got pictures of the prototypes in our Build thread.

As far as I know cusco and GTSPEC are only making rear lcas, we're talking about fronts. :)

I almost waited for nothing! Any confirmation on roll center correction options?
