Seeping Oil Around Drain Plug

I changed my oil on 2013 FR-S, and tightened new crush washer to 30ft-lbs torque, and it is dripping a small puddle after driving. I did buy crush washers at a local auto parts store, and they look ok. Could I use some of that teflon tape around the drain plug, with a new crush washer, to stop the leak? Or is there a better solution. TIA,

Did you make sure to remove the old crush washer? Sometimes it gets stuck to the pan or the bolt, and doubling them might cause a leak.
Teflon tape won't help - the seal is not at the threads like a water pipe connection, but between the head of the bolt and the pan via the crush washer (with the crush washer acting line an O-ring).
I use Fumoto valves on all my cars. They come with a rubber gasket and tightening torque is lower, might be a good time to replace the bolt with a valve.

Thanks, that was exactly the problem. Don't know if I left an old one on there, or if someone else did, but the extra one deformed, causing the leak. I'll have to be more careful next time :)

glad you solved your issue. just wanted to mention that i've successfully used teflon tape on leaky oil pan drain bolts in the past, so it could be used if you need a little extra seal. i kept it wrapped mostly near the head of the bolt so the tape didn't protrude into the pan too much.

That's probably a safe way to use the tape, but the single fresh crush washer seems to be holding for now. Cheers!
