Minor oil leak

A couple of weeks ago, I noticed a faint hot oil smell. Upon inspection, there was oil on the skid plate. The FA24 has been in the car for almost a year.

Fortunately, it turned out to be an easy fix. Some one must have been in a bit of a hurry when they installed the dipstick tube. I still had the tube from my old engine with an intact "O" ring that I transferred to the FA24 tube.

Moral of the story: When you are putting your tube in the hole, use some lube and work it in slowly. Gentle oscillations and kind words can help. After all, they don't call it an "O" for nothing.

I had the exact same problem. Showed up at my first race tho. The oring was split so an easy paddock fix. Likely damaged when I inserted the tube.

Is the O-ring for where the tube goes into the block?

Yes. And its not a normal round o-ring. It has a bit of a crown to its outer edge. I'd suggest using the OE part instead of something out of an assortment kit.
