Reverse light not working

Hey my reverse light was intermittent, I had to jiggle my manual gear shifter and it would work sometimes and now I don’t get anything. Do anyone else have a problem with their reverse light and what was the fix? Where is the reverse light switch located? Is it under the hood somewhere? Thanks!

Not much help here - :(

I'd suggest you check the bulb(s) and then check the fuse.

I'd guess the switch is somewhere around the transmission - :iono:

Mine is out. It was the switch. I bought one but haven't swapped it out yet. The connector for the switch is right on top about where the engine and granny bolt together. Then it runs down and the switch is on the side of the tranny. You can unplug the switch under the hood and make a little jumper out of an inch piece of wire and plug it in instead of the switch. If the reverse lights come on, it's the switch.

Here is the connector. You can follow the wire with a flashlight under the hood and see the switch on the side of the tranny.

My reverse light is out too. It's in a box. :D

My reverse light question is, can you change the switch without dropping the tranny?

Speaking of reversing stories - have I told this one?

When I was about 10 years old I was backing up our steel wheeled tractor to hitch up to a disk. My grandfather was between the tractor and disk, holding up the tongue of the disk so as it could get coupled.

I was leaning waaay back to see the hitch when my foot SLIPPED OFF of the clutch pedal. My grandfather's leg was trapped between the steel wheel of the tractor and the 10 foot disk - :eyebulge:

After I pulled up, he yelled for me to run up the farm house and get my mom to take him to the doctor!

Yep, my history of bad backing up goes waaaay back - :bonk:

Oof... That's a rough memory. I'm sorry. Hope your grandfather wasn't too badly injured. Valuable lesson learned. Well, hmmm... maybe not so much. :iono:

There is plenty of room. May have to route the wire by braile following the neutral switch wire

How do you reach the switch without dropping the transmission?

I won’t be home till late Friday night but I’ll take pictures Saturday morning. Basically disconnect reverse light switch connector on top of the bell housing. Then jack up the passenger side of the car. You should be able to feel around and get the wire and connector for the reverse light switch out. Then unthread the switch. It’s in the passenger side on the tail housing towards the top. Should be enough room.
