2013 Scion FRS Engine Issues and Codes. Rod Knock?

Hello all,

Please bear with me I am not mechanically inclined with full blown cars and I am learning as I go. About 2 weeks ago this car stalled and threw a bunch of codes.

Car is a 2013 Scion fr-s with 96K miles. Car sounds fine at idle, however when in neutral, revving to 2.0K-3.0K RPM it makes the sound in the link below:

https://streamable.com/43mcf3

Codes throw are

P0102, P0463, P0113, and P1604.

Replaced the MAF Sensor, cleaned the throttle body while I was there, replaced air intake filter, changed/bled engine coolant, new filter + oil, inspected oil for glitter but couldn't see any, replaced the battery and replaced air intake filter.

Oil used: Mobil 1 0W-20 and a K&N Filter

Reset the codes and got two new permanent codes:

P0463 and P0014

Before I throw more money at this, what else should I check? P0014 seems to be an issue with either engine oil or the oil control valve. Seems like these go out... but would a bad OCV cause that sound...? Do I have rod knock? Should I use a different oil?

Thanks for the time all. :thanks:

Well now, tony_n123, all I know is that your car's problems have nothing to do with the oil you are using.

Before you fall off the learning curve, and your car suffers severe damage, I suggest you take it into a shop and have them evaluate it.

See how easy that can be -
