Help with SCCA Classing
I recently joined an Auto-X group. CART CT. They have a different way of classing vehicles but its derived from the SCCA rule book. Im having trouble understanding how to follow the SCCA website so that I can properly class my vehicle for the group.
Can anyone help provide insight based on my build thread? Build Thread |
Looking at your pictures/parts list. XA is going to be the best place for you. The uncatted header and aero bits will take you out of STX. XA was made as a catch-all for those who have built a street car to their own tastes and not that of an autox class.
This link will help you to determine what class is correct as well. https://www.scca-classifier.com/a/index.html |

The aero bits do technically take him out of STX though. Our local SCCA group and non-SCCA groups would probably let the aero stuff slide though. It's not even a wing or front splitter. Sideskirts, lip, and little bumper addons aren't going to do jack squat. @spcmafia, I'd talk it over with the top people of the group you're running with. I personally wouldn't have an issue with you running STX if it's just local events. Even if you had 200TW tires. |

Thanks! Yep, I talked it over with the members and they’re willing to work with me and properly class the car once I actually start. |
In many cases, they will let new people run "whatever looks about right" to help you get started since *usually* new people don't just show up and start winning. But I must throw in the caveat of "don't beat the people chasing season points if you're not legal for the class"...
But most places are more than happy to get you involved and help you find the appropriate class once you're there. regional and national events are a different animal with more picky people.. |

I actually ran a different car for a season in FS on a square set up of dedicated wheels, which was a no-no since the car only came staggered. No one caught it, and I was a back-marker at best. I didn't even catch it until recently when I gave the rules a deep read. I felt bad for not being legal, but I didn't harm anyone's standings at an event or for the season. |
