Few quick set up questions

So i finally pulled the trigger and picking up a used frs. Going to jump right in and start my ST? Prep with coil overs and rims and tires im set on a 8" wheel running 245/40/17 or the 245/35 r1r. Im going with bc racing coil overs i loved them on my stc celica out od the box spring rates are 8k/8k sould i go custom like 8k/7k or what open to opinions. And second are the upgraded shift springs worth the extra 300$. And the most important question of them all what color numbers sould i run. Its a hot lava frs with a black roof. I have blue with silver outline now but i was thinking blackwith silver.

have you tracked the car yet? you'll want to know what the car's limits are before dumping money into it.

Rubish.. i dont see the point if it changes when ever you start swaping parts and goofing with the alignment.

I'd go with the 8k rates until you know you want something different. Seems like as good a starting point as the next.

I doubt you want to shorten the gearing with the 245/35 tire, unless you plan to raise the redline or generally have tight courses in your region.

It's pretty clear the "troll" people don't actually read posts, or know what an "STC Celica" is. I'm coming from a 7th gen Celica myself - I got 12 great years (bought it in Oct '99) and a lot of autocross runs out of that car.

Good point i always forget about the little detail. Never had to worry about that on the celica 64mph in second was always good enough.

You bought a used 2013 FRS?

Im_SPEED 08-23-2012 09:35 AM

Yes got it from a friend of a friend it was good deal was holding out for a brz but it was a GOOD deal.

If you are serious, read Scooby South's build thread.

R1Rs are the wrong tire. They are best on light cars. Look at RS3s, Starspecs or similar. You should get a wider wheel than 8" and as wide a tire as possible.

BC racing is crap IMO. I'd look at AST, KW, or whatever RCE is working on.

Did you buy Annie's car? Loved that black roof on it.

If you're coming from FWD, not sure I would touch anything except tires for a bit. Good luck!

I don't think anyone knows what spring rates for sure and naturally that will be affected by your sway bar strategy. You would still have a lot of other things to do to get power up and weight down.

i have read that thread i got alot of good info off of it.
as for the R1R i mostly race on an old tri oval and the r1rs stick good to that surface and stick when they are right off the bat and you dont have to wait for them to get super hot like my old Kumho XS but im may go with rs3 next if i dont like the r1rs on this car. ok i will look into the other coilovers like is said the bc racing worked great on the Celica

thank you for your replays and not being concerned about the dietary habits of a mythical creature. :)

Annie and her car ADHD is famous. I sold her an Integra Type R a few years back, one of her very many.
