Another 15 fa20 swap

I am just trying to have a few questions answered.

I have a 13 brz that I am swapping a 15 JDM brz engine both manual trans.

1. If I have the 15 harness can I just use that?
2. Are there any other major things I need to change during the swap?
3. Is there any issues with the clutch or transmission that need to be addressed?

Thank you so much for the help guys

technically on #3, if you're at/over 60k miles, or on the original throwout bearing, there's a revised version that's now out-- if you've got it out, i'd recommend changing it.

there's also the battlespace garage throwout bearing and verus clutch fork...

I guess I should elaborate that if you are using the 15' harness you need to use the 15' coil packs too.

Does it matter if it's a JDM motor? Thanks everyone for your advice

i don't recall any difference regionally. just double check all the emission stuff is in place.

there is a difference between a manual and automatic car with a vacuum pump for the brakes on the auto's. not sure how complete your motor/harness is going to be.

It says everything but the transmission. I was considering getting. The transmission also but if its not necessary I won't spend the money

So I am finally about to do this guys. Can anyone let me know about the ecu? Can I use my 13 ecu? Also if I am using the 15 transmission will I need anything extra? Found a great deal on both combined

So quick question.
Why did you get a "JDM" motor.
Was it super cheap as compared to a regular one? (since there is basically no difference between the two)
Or did you get suckered?
I ask because ALL of the blocks where I add "JDM" to it are hella overpriced.
And since you live in Cali according to your location.
A typical running good longblock is only like 2-2.5k max. A built one 4-5k.

This isn't the 90's and this isn't a B16/B18 where those people only wanted the "JDM" motors for the small bump in compression because the engines were so close in price where building and bumping the compression would usually end up costing more.

No I didn't get the JDM one. I just didn't know if it was preferred. I also wanted a 15 motor vs the 13 motor due to some of the recall issues that were bopefully fixed by that year. I have seen no long blocks that cheap. If you know someone who has one that has under 65k miles I would buy it. Out here even on Ebay everything is 3500 to 6k for that engine.

Your original ECU is fine. No computers need to be changed

Nothing is appreciably different to the chassis if you have complete assembly with harness
